The Connected Faith Survey coincided with the work of an NEH funded Digital Humanities project which brought together scholars for a two day period. Through contributions from key scholars the project examined how Black religious practices are evolving within digital platforms. Data from the Connected Faith Survey was created and considered by the project team during the two-day conference, highlighting how these digital practices are reshaping religious identity and community engagement.
The project broke new ground in bringing these voices together to guide the development of an online platform informed by insights and useful to them in the context of humanities research and teaching. The advisory board, through virtual meetings, met during the first nine months of the award period and oversaw this work and led sessions during the conference. In June 2023, the advisory board and the Black religious scholars and leaders gathered for a two-day workshop to consider, among other things, the key findings of the survey. The workshop group provided content for the website in the form of session recordings discussing their new projects on digital Black religion. Those proceedings and white paper reside here.
